Jie Lin (Jay)
Biography
Hello, Iβm Jie, Iβm a student still exploring visual effects in graphic and media design, and my areas of interest are photography, interaction design, information visualisation, brand design, etc.
I will incorporate what I have learned and seen into graphic design, constantly trying and exploring different output design results. During my three year study career at GMD, I found that the output range of Graphic and Media design is very broad, especially in the final year of learning and exploration. The interaction of design combined with sound is very exciting, and I will continue to explore higher level interactivity and strengthen overall communication. ππ

Visible β Invisible
During the exploration stage of this project, I was thinking about how to combine photography and graphic design. I tried many photography methods, such as time-lapse photography, long-exposure photography, and so on. By chance, I photographed the trajectory of the plane in the sky.
This reminds me that peopleβs demand for travel is also greatly increasing, and planes have gradually become the most important means of air transportation for people to travel. The flight route of the aircraft needs to be strictly formulated and regular. The sky above our heads has been surrounded by dense, invisible aircraft paths, and I want to present this through photography.
During the exploration process, I also paid attention to the construction of the third runway at Heathrow Airport. This is a controversial issue because the noise of aircraft landing is harmful to the human body. This also made me interested in the visual presentation of noise and finally used data visualisation as a way to show the noise through illustrations and statistics.

Noise Visualisation
This is an interactive installation, the audience can control the trajectory, speed, density, frequency, etc. of the movement of the Chladni Pattern graphics through the Midi Keyboard while combining the set noise. Although the noise in the project is not related to the movement of the Chladni Pattern, I hope that the audience can adjust the noise through the melody of the image during the interaction, or control the frequency of the image movement through the frequency of the noise.
The main purpose of this project is to explore the relationship between sound and graphic design. Can graphic design combined with sound enhance immersion and increase interactive fun? Perhaps the output of graphic design not only brings people visual stimulation, but it can also be an auditory and immersive interaction.
