Biography
Hey, I’m Ruth, a South-African born, London-based designer. My practice primarily revolves around compelling brand identities, supported via my illustration and 2D animation, exploring the avenues through which design can effectively communicate and establish meaningful connections. My previous experience working in London-based studios has allowed me to enjoy pushing myself creatively in various areas from campaign work to social media to packaging. Now going into industry I am looking forwards to growing even further in my practice :)

Archijecture (mainstage)
This is a speculative branding project for a hypothetical timed event. The theme focuses on architecture and its potential futures and current issues. I chose to focus on the Barbican, an iconic brutalist building in London, which encapsulates themes of retro-futurism and living spaces, playing with ideas of past and present architecture to create a cohesive visual identity.
Selkies Echo (Lens)
Focusing on how we communicate folklore and mythology I retold the classic Celtic Irish myth of the Selkie people through motion. Combining my skills within illustration and animation (After Effects and frame by frame) I captured this myth without language to bring it into a more modern context.

In an effort to become more familiar with type I created this type in Glyphs inspired by orange peels and citrus fruits.
